Prescription Steroids | Human Grade Steroids

There are two general types of prescription steroids and many sub variations for each type. Generally, a steroid is a naturally produced hormone in the body and can come from the adrenal gland, the testes or ovaries. Prescription steroids can be natural or synthesized and used to treat a multitude of disorders including growth disorders and even and asthma, bronchitis and “wasting diseases” (to increase appetite).

prescription steroidsThe main types of prescription steroids are cortico steroids and anabolic andogenic steroids (the type most publicized as used illegally to “bulk up”).

Prescription Cortico Steroids

These prescription steroid types are synthesized cortisone, a natural substance in the body used to control inflammation. Most often prescription cortico steroids are used to regulate pain and inflammation due to injury, eczema, asthma, arthritis and other inflammatory disorders.

Anabolic Androgenic Steroids

Anabolic Androgenic steroids are synthetic versions of male testosterone and increase protein synthesis in cells and thus promote muscle growth and mass. Prescription steroids are part of therapy to increase appetite in people with diseases such as Cancer and Aids, promote growth, induce puberty, and stimulate bone growth. They have earned a name also as an illegal substance used by certain athletes to enhance performance. Androgenic action is what you see when male characteristics are enhanced such as increased facial hair, and a deepening voice.

You would rarely find a prescription steroid such as a Cortico steroid on the black market. However, pharmaceutical grade steroids such as anabolic androgenic steroids seem to be flooding the market and along with counterfeits with no therapeutic value, and designer versions of prescription steroids, which may be, human grade steroids but which elude detection (in some cases) by drug testing.

Anabolic steroids are controlled substances in the US and Canada and require a prescription. However, that has not decreased the demand for them and overseas suppliers and underground steroids labs have leaped into action to fill that demand though not always with human grade steroids. The penalties for possession of Anabolic steroids without a prescription include a hefty fine and up to 5 years in jail. You will often see baseball players using steroids and trying to claim they have a prescription, or they blame it on a supplement.

Anabolic Androgenic steroids as well as cortico steroids do have some negative side effects if used long term. Anabolic steroids used to enhance performance or muscle mass administered in massive doses and present greater risks than prescription steroids for a medical condition would.

One primary consideration in taking anabolic steroids is some of the side effects are irreversible and may occur gradually and escape detection. Some of these would be male pattern baldness in both men and women, infertility, shrinking testes, and increased body hair on women. There are many more side effects possible with the use of steroids and not only are steroids illegal to use without a prescription they are also unwise to use without a physician’s care.

Athletes and body builders say they use anabolic steroids to increase strength, endurance and speed. However, officials bar athletes from competition who test positive for steroids and do not have a prescription.

Prescription steroids have their legitimate uses and the risks minimal under a physician’s care. Those who abuse anabolic steroids take greater risks and may lose more than they gain.
